INTRODUCTION

India is a land of many Gods from the very beginning and because of which it is culturally
diverse in nature where language and religion of people changes from region to region.
Unlike any other country in the world where the people of the country is almost homogenous
and also follower of one religion, India holds a very trenchant position by providing the space
to followers of all the major religions of the world. Religion is so deep rooted in the hearts of
the people of this country that they still in 21st century also, people place their religion on a
higher position and their lives are governed by the their religion and this is the main reason
why India has not been able to adopt Uniform Civil Code till now. The one religion that has
created a very deep impact to the Indian society is Islam which came around 12th century
with Changez Khan, when he attacked India established his rule and this was the major
starting point for the rise of Islam in India and flourished till the Mughals. Islam is very
unique because before the entry of Islam in India, there were religions such as Hinduism,
Buddhism, Jainism but they all were based on same line as they propagates idol worship
whereas Islam on the other hand is a monosthetic and is totally against idol worship and
because of that it has created a very deep impact in the society. By taking the background into
consideration and linking it with todays competitive world where people have started
criticizing some evil practices of religion and have started thinking rationally about the same,
the major question that comes in mind that- Can there be reforms in religion according to
needs of the people today?

The paper here will focus only on possibility of Islamic reforms that- Can there be reforms in
Islam or not by analysing Turkeys Islamic reforms which was brought by Mustafa Kemal
Atatrk when he was sworn as the first President of Turkey after the decline of Ottoman
Empire. He extensively changed the whole political, social, cultural structure of the country
which was based on Islamic Laws and transformed it with modern concepts like democracy
etc. The researcher will try to analyse the reforms in turkey and what all factors led to such
reforms. The researcher will also try to practically analyse the possibility of reforms in Islam
in light of Turkey keeping in consideration with the rise of various terrorist organization such
as ISIS, and various other Islamic terrorist organization. The researcher will also try to
analyse that how these terrorist organizations are focused on keeping Islam intact and also
how they will act as a strong concrete wall that will keep away reforms from Islam.
Hypothesis

Islam is the second largest religion of the world and keeping in view of the modern day
atrocities that have been committed by various terrorist organizations such as ISIS, Al-
Nushrah Front, etc. the researcher before doing the proper research for the paper is of the
view that reforms in Islam is not possible especially keeping in view of Turkeys Islamic
