Surf Ballroom Offers Summer Showcase Series

Local and Regional Up and Coming Artists to be Featured

CLEAR LAKE, IOWA May 27, 2016 The historical Surf Ballroom & Museum is pleased to
announce the second annual Summer Showcase Series, an opportunity for local community
members as well as local and regional up and coming artists to perform at the Surf! As a way of
showcasing exceptional talent to north Iowa, the Surf Ballroom & Museum is excited to provide
incredible music free to the public in the Surf Ballroom & Museums Cypress Room.
The Summer Showcase Series will be every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. throughout the summer
starting on June 9 and ending on July 28. Each show will be happening in the Surf Ballroom
& Museums Cypress Room to utilize the initial purpose of its constructionto enjoy local and
regional entertainment in an intimate sit-down environment. Various genres of music, such as
country, rock, blues/roots, acoustic, and R&B will be featured to expose different types of music
to fit the tastes of the general public. An acoustic or electric guitar will be raffled off each week
to an audience member as a thank you from the Surf to all that support live music.
Each show will include one hired regional artist, and will additionally showcase a local
person//artist/band to play a 30-minute set to open for the regional artist(s). Local
people//artists/bands interested in the opportunity to open for a show during the Summer
Showcase Series are encouraged to submit a recording or press kit to
education@surfballroom.com. Submissions may also be mailed to Surf Ballroom, 460 North
Shore Drive, Clear Lake, IA 50428. Individuals must be 18 years of age and may not use
recorded background tracks.

June 23 Brian Naughton
June 30 Barnacle Bill Band

Donations will be accepted at the door to support future opportunities. For more information on

The Surf Ballroom & Museums box office and museum hours are Monday through Friday from
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. year round. The historical landmark is additionally open on Saturdays
from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Memorial Day
through Labor Day.
The mission of the North Iowa Cultural Center and Museum is to maintain and preserve the Surf
Ballroom property and to enhance the quality of life in north Iowa by providing cultural,
educational, and entertainment opportunities.
