Assessment Timeline and Summary

A. Entry Level Assessment : Before Unit Begins

1. Cell Division Questionnaire

- The questionnaire consists of simple questions from the unit. If the students do well on

the questionnaire then the teacher can focus on some of the more difficult material in

the cell division unit.

B. Formative Assessment

1. Guided Notes Questions

- The teacher has developed works sheets for the unit that will be filled out during the

lecture. These handouts consist of critical thinking questions that will be answered at

stops during the lecture individually and in small groups. If the students are doing well

on these questions then the teacher can speed up the lecture and focus on more

difficult concepts.

2. Cell Division Webercise

- The students will fill out a work sheets based on three websites. These websites are

interactive and the worksheet consists of questions to answer while searing the

websites and critical thinking questions at the end. The teacher will give 5 to 10 minutes

at the end of class for group discussion. This will allow the teacher to analyze how well

the students are comprehending the material.

3. Khan Academy Graphic Organizer

- The student will follow along with the lecture while filling out a work sheet. There are

critical thinking questions at the end of the work sheet for the students to answer as

well. The students are to complete this on their own and be put into groups for
discussion. The teacher will walk around and ask questions to analyze how prepared

the class is to move on to the next material.

4. Quiz

- This quiz will happen near the middle of the unit. It will consist of 10 multiple choice

questions and 2 short answer questions. The quiz is designed to be finished in 30

minutes or less.

C. Summative Assessment: After Unit Ends

1. Mitosis Essay Test

- The students will be asked to describe mitosis while underlining and using key words.

The focus on this unit is the process of mitosis so they should be prepared to do well.

2. Cell Division Multiple Choice Test

- This test will consist of 10 critical thinking questions and 40 straight forward questions.
