TRIANGLE

TRIANGLE: Made up of three sides and three angles. Addition of all

angles is 180 as shown below:

AREA and PERIMETER

Perimeter= Addition of all the sides= AB+BC+AC

Area of triangle = (Base X Height)

Area of triangle if height is not given only sides are given (herons
formula)

S= (a+b+c)

Area of triangle=Square root of {s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)}

For example: a=5cm, b= 6cm, c=7cm

So s= (a+b+c)/2= (5+6+7)/2= 18/2=9

Area of triangle= square root of{9(9-5)(9-6)(9-7)}

Square root of{9X4X3X2)

Square root of {216}

6 (square root of {6})

14.26cm2

Properties of Triangle

1. Vertex: Vertex means corner. So triangle is having three vertex

2. Base: Bottom line of the triangle. It is denoted by b.
3. Altitude or height: This is a line perpendicular from the base to
opposite side and denoted by h.
4. Median: Median is a line from vertex to opposite side. And
median divide the opposite side into two equal parts. When the
three median meet at one point that point is centroid of the
triangle.
5. Perimeter: It is distance around the triangle.
6. Interior angles: These are the angles inside the triangle and sum
of interior angle of triangle is always 1800.

If two angle are given to you for example Angle A= 650 angle B=
550 then angle c must be 600.

7. Exterior angle: This is angle outside the triangle. This is equal to

sum of opposite angles.

Exterior angle for the same is 1200.

How is should be 1200.

Angle ACD= 1800- angle c =1800-600 =1200

Or angle ACD= angle A+ angle B= 650+550=1200

TYPES OF TRIANGLE

1. On the basis of Sides

2. On the basis of Angles

On the basis of angles:

1. Acute angle Triangle: all the angles less than 900.

2. Obtuse angle triangle: those triangle in which one angle is more than 900 and rest of
the angles are less than 900
3. Right angle Triangle: one angle is equal to 900.

On the basis of Sides:

1. Isosceles Triangle: If two sides are equal and also two angles are same.

2. Scalene Triangles: all the three sides and angles are different.

3. Equilateral Triangles: all the angles are same and all sides are equal.
