[1281]Synchronizing_remote_control_Sharan2Synchronising a Sharan remote

control from 08.97

Synchronising:

Synchronisation of a remote control (transponder) is necessary when replacing a faulty remote

control or when increasing the number of remote controls (maximum four). It is also necessary if
the code of the remote control and the control unit no longer agree. This may happen if the
transmit button is frequently pressed when out of range.

Note:

The time taken to synchronise must not exceed fifteen seconds for each remote control.

If the car has electrically-operated windows, the windows must be closed.

Method:

1. Place the key in the door lock and turn the key anticlockwise three times(unlocking).

Each turn must be performed within five seconds, and the key must be held in the unlocking
position for half a second.

2. Remove the key from the door lock.

3. Press and hold the locking button on the remote control.

4. Press the unlocking button three times, then release the locking button.

5. As confirmation that the remote control has now been synchronised, the indicator light on the
remote control flashes five times. The indicator lamp in the door trim flashes five times in
recognition of the initialisation code.

6. Synchronise the next remote control, starting from step 3. NOTE: This must begin within
fifteen seconds of the previous synchronisation.

7. Synchronisation is terminated automatically when:

the number of remote controls to be synchronised is reached.

the car is locked mechanically with a key.

the maximum permitted synchronisation time is exceeded.
