‘350 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham AL 35208 907-0240, jefforeon@distinguishedyw.org MEMORANDUM FROM: Eddie Macksoud, Chairman RE: ‘**SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES*: Distinguished Young Women Program DATE: November 3, 2017 We kindly request your assistance by informing any students who are current high school junior girls, and who are residents of Jefferson County, of the tremendous scholarship and performing arts opportunities available to them by participating in the Distinguished Young Women of Jefferson County Program (formerly Junior Miss). ‘The program will be held July 20 & 21, 2018 at Vestavia Hills High School, with rehearsals being held July 12 ~ duly 49, Last year, participants in the Jefferson County Program were awarded over $10,000 in cash-tuition scholarships. **Please note that SCHOLASTICS is (25%) of the evaluation*** (4) Preliminary Scholastics Winners will be selected during Preliminary competition, each receiving a $250.00 scholarship. In addition to the Preliminary Scholastic awards, during Finals competition an Overall Scholastics winner will be selected, receiving $500.00 scholarship. ‘The young lady selected Distinguished Young Woman of Jefferson County will then compete for over 640,000 in eaoh tuition scholarships and over $2.5 milion in college-granted scholarships in the Distinguished Young Women Program of Alabama. ABOUT DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMEN Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program that inspires high school gifs to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase oftheir accomplishments.
