I. TAX
1) Romans 13:6-7
For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this
very thing. Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear
to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
2) Matthew 22:17-21 - Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto
Caesar, or not?
3) Matthew 17:24-26
When they came to Capernaum, those who collected the two-drachma tax came to Peter and
said, "Does your teacher not pay the two-drachma tax?" He said, "Yes." And when he came into
the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the
kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?" When Peter
said, "From strangers," Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are exempt.
4) Luke 18:11
"The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like other
people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
5) Matthew 5:46
"For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do
the same?
6) Luke 3:12-13
And some tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what shall we
do?" And he said to them, "Collect no more than what you have been ordered to."

10) Romans 13:2 - Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and
they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
11) Matthew 17:27 - Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an
hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt
find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
