Offered in open competition, these fellowships are intended for advanced studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for one year at Chinese universities. Candidatures (a maximum of two per country) should be submitted as prescribed on the application form, to enable the selection of the most deserving candidates. Given that UNESCO attaches high priority to gender equality, special attention will be paid to women’s candidatures for an equal representation. A certain number of fellowships are intended for candidatures of pre- and in-service teachers, teacher educators and trainers from the ten (10) CFIT countries to pursue an Advanced Teacher Training Programme at the East China Normal University. BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA POLAND GEORGIA SERBIA UKRAINE Page 4of 6 ANNEX II UNESCO/PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (THE GREAT WALL) CO-SPONSORED FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAMME 2016-2017 With a view to promoting international exchanges in the field of education, culture, ‘communication, science and technology, and to enhancing friendship among peoples of the world, the Government of the People's Republic of China has placed at the disposal of UNESCO for the academic year 2016-2017, under the co-sponsorship of UNESCO, seventy-five (75) fellowships for advanced studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These fellowships are for the benefit of developing Member States in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe and ‘Arab region (see Annex |). The fellowships, tenable at a selected number of Chinese universities, are for a durz of one year. These fellowships, which are in most cases to be conducted in English, are offered to senior advanced students wishing to pursue higher studies or intending to undertake individual research with periodic guidance from the assigned supervisor. In exceptional cases, candidates may be required to study Chinese language before taking up research/study in theit fields of interest. Files which are not complete or which are received after the above deadline, as well as candidates who do not fulfill the above-mentioned requirements, will not be taken into consideration E. SELECTION OF BENEFICIARIES UNESCO and the Chinese authorities will select the seventy-five (78) most qualified candidates. The National Commissions of the selected fellows will be duly informed by UNESCO. Candidates not informed of their selection by 31 July 2016 should consider that their applications have not been approved F. FACILITIES OFFERED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (A monthly tiving allowance of CNY 3,000 for general scholars or CNY 3,500 for senior scholars will be granted covering meals and packet expenses; (i) Tuition waver; (ii) Accommodation: free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy; If the host university requires students to live on campus, the university will accommodate scholarship students in university dormitory (usually twin room); if the host university permits students to live off campus, the university will provide monthly / quarterly accommodation subsidy: undergraduate students / master's students / general scholars: CNY 700 per month; doctoral students / senior scholars: CNY 1000 per month. (iv) Comprehensive Medical insurance** and Protection Scheme for International Students in China. ‘Students are to cover a certain percentage of expense. Claim for compensation with the relevant Payment receipts may be asked trom the insurance company acoording to the stipulated insurance articles. FACILITIES OFFERED BY UNESCO () One round trip international travel to and from China; (i) Amonthly pocket allowance of USD 150 (one hundred and fifty US dollars) (ii) A termination allowance of USD 200 (two hundred US dollars) to cover excess luggage charges at time of fellows’ return to their home Country, in addition to the living allowance granted by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
