Evolving Roles of Online and Face-to Face Instructors in a Lecture/Lab Hybrid Course
A course that has a lecture/lab format is generally used in the higher education field. The course
usually has one lecturer and could have multiple lab sections under one professor. Some
problems could arise with this format. One problem that could happen is less instructor-to-
student interaction. A large amount of data was collected from an intro educational technology
course to determine the structure. Several hours were put into the study to find the effects of a
large course with lecturer and small lab sections. Different formats between the courses resulted
in figuring out how structured face-to-face courses are different than online. It is crucial that
instructors devote the required time and effort to put forth deliverable courses.
