I believe that the most important aspect for me at this time to start with this course is to
thoroughly know the basic concepts, laws, physical phenomena involved in semiconductor
materials. To later understand more easily other equally important concepts such as those of
application to electronics and its technical and mathematical.
Undoubtedly, the study of the physical properties of semiconductor materials and their surprising
applications in the technical development of electrical devices, represent one of the scientific-
technological revolutions with the greatest impact on our society. To get an idea of the real
magnitude of this revolution, let us think for a moment about transistors, probably the most
important technological application of semiconductors. Any inhabitant of the modern world is
surrounded daily by millions of transistors. They are on the TV, on the stereo, on the washing
machine, on the wristwatch, on the cell phone. A personal computer may have a few billions of
transistors. In fact, in the world there are many more transistors than people.
But, of course, it is one thing to use this technology and It is quite another to understand how it
operates. This is the purpose of this brief. However, given the highly specialized nature of the
subject and the limited space available to develop it, it will remain as a matter of study to
progress in the subject during the present course.
CONCLUSIONS

In general terms, the operation of electronic devices based on semiconductors may be described
as the thermodynamic equilibrium of a semiconductor junction disturbed by an external
perturbation, for example, by applying a voltage or by exposing the sample to light.
