Dear Dr.

Sasmor,

I have reviewed the test scores and carefully looked at student Ms grade. I have already
taken off every students lowest grade for Exam 2 allowing each students grade to be
boosted a bit more. In the case of student M, I have taken her lowest grade off of her
score, which was a score of 0 on question #6. The average on the question was 8.31which
was the best question on the test. I say best meaning it had the better average
compared to the other questions.

On the question that had the worse average, question #8, the average was 5.75 and
student Ms score was 4. On the question being taken into consideration, question #3, the
average was 6.06 and the student score was 5. This means that the z-score for her on
question #3 was -0.3644. This z-score means that she was just below the average for this
question.

If I took off the question from everyones test, student Ms grade as well as everyone else
in the class, their grade would go down. Therefore, I would not think that it would be
beneficial for student M and the other students in the class if I took of question #3 from
the exam.

I am sorry that student M is upset and would like something done about her grade, but
because of statistics, I have no reason to remove that question from every students grade.
