August, 2005Unitronics announces a major VisiLogic release, loaded with a range of

new features that give a powerful boost to PLC data communcations. In addition, this
release includes both new and improved utilities: UniOPC, UniDDE, & Version Swapper.

VisiLogic
New UniCAN UniCAN DataCOM enables a PLC in the CANbus network to exchange data
Datacom: with up to 60 other networked PLCs.
CANbus Send up to 16 MIs (256 bits), multiple sends during a single PLC
functions program cycle.
Broadcast an MB & an MI value to all PLCs in the UniCAN network.
Use Check if Alive to assess PLCs on the network
Note that prior to VisiLogic 4.50, Vision controllers used CANbus ISC, which
was limited to 64 bits of data, broadcast via system operands, and limited to
data exchange between 8 other controllers in the network.

PC-PLC CANbus You can now access a PLC CANbus network via TCP/IP, assuming that the
TCP/IP access PLC used as the network bridge has a TCP/IP card.

New FBs: Remote If your controller comprises an Ethernet card, use Remote PLC DataCom
PLC DataCom commands to communicate mixed data messages, containing both register and
bit values, to remote Unitronics PLCs over TC P/IP. Any controller in the
network may function as either master or slave via the controller's Ethernet port.

Enhanced FB features
MODBUS: Combine Read & Write operations in a single MODBUS command, transferring
Read/Write Mixed data between master and slave controllers, without using standard MODBUS
Data commands and addressing conventions. Note: this non-standard MODBUS
function is only compatible with Unitronics' Vision controllers.

Trends FB, Draw: Display different sections of the Trends Vector.

Data Tables
Data Tables Copy Row and Copy Column functions enable you to transfer values
in the same or between different Data Tables.
Clear Row and Clear Column enable you to use a Ladder condition
to delete values in a particular table.
Write Column now includes Vector Offset from the Start of Vector. This
enables you to copy values from a vector of PLC memory operands using a
constant or changing offset value.

Import-Export Operand Descriptions: you to edit operand
descriptions in Excel.
Disabling a net causes the program scan to skip over it.
Online Test mode now enables you to test a controller that is directly
connected to the PC, or a PLC's network ID # if the PC is linked to a
CANbus or RS485 network.
Rise/Fall Element Summary, aids you to stay under the total maximum
of 255 Rise/Fall elements. New system bits SB 13 ON at Rising Edge of
SB3 (1sec pulse) and SB 15 ON at Rising Edge of SB7 (100 mS pulse)
help to activate tasks requiring pulses--without actual Rise elements.

New System SB 23 Enable all HMI keys during Keypad Entry

Operands By default, an active Keypad Entry variable suspends the normal
activity of keypad keys. This means that the following SBs do not
rise during keypad entry: SB 40-49, 51, 52, 55, & 56.
Turning SB 23 enables the SBs to rise during keypad entry.
SB 13 and 15: ON at Rising Pulse
Using system operands SB 13 ON at Rising Edge of SB 3 (1sec
pulse) and SB 15 ON at Rising Edge of SB 7 (100 mS pulse) can
help you to activate tasks that require pulses.
SB 102 MODBUS Read Long
You can swap 16 bits of a 32-bit double register value by turning SB
102 MODBUS Read Long ON in your program.
SB 159 Change Socket 0 to Multicast mode
To use Socket 0 with Remote PLC DataCom, you must set it to
support UDP Multicast by turning SB 159 OFF.
SB 279 Send SMS messages in ASCII format
To send SMS messages in ASCII format, turn this SB ON at Power-
up, before COM Init.
SB 280 Force Message Display on Cell Phone
Turning this SB ON at Power-up, before COM Init, causes an SMS
sent to a cell phone to be automatically displayed on the phone's
screen.
SB 501 Retain Inputs Forced Value
Retain Inputs Forced Value after power failure
Set SB 501at power-up to retain forced input states during power failuress.
Reset SB 501at power-up to initialize forced inputs.

Unitronics Utilities
UniOPC Unitronics OPC Server: read and write data between Unitronics PLCs and
Server applications that support OPC, such as SCADA programs. UniOPC Server is
compliant with the OPC Foundation's Data Access Custom Interface
Standards through to Version 3.00.

UniDDE (Unitronics Dynamic Data Exchange: read and write data between Unitronics
PLCs and applications that support DDE, such as Excel.

VisiLogic You can roll back and forth between VisiLogic versions by using the VisiLogic
Version Version Swapper. The Swapper utility may be downloaded from
Swapper http://www.unitronics.com/download.htm.

About Vision Series OPLCs and VisiLogic Software

A Vision Series controller is a compact PLC with on-board I/Os and a Graphic Operator Interface. Visions integral HMI panel
contains a graphics-ready LCD and function keyboard. This enables you to use graphic images and bar graphs to represent
real-time variable data, create and show text instructions, and to display actual run-time system data. The operator uses the 24-
key customizable keyboard to enter or modify system data.

Visions on-board I/Os offer 16/3 D/A inputs including HSC/shaft-encoders/frequency measurers, and 10/4 relay/transistor
outputs including PWM. Hooked up to Unitronics I/O Expansion Modules, Vision supports an additional 128 I/Os.
