Lesson Plan Script

Bellwork:
Students will be given 5 minutes to work on the following bellwork.
What lessons have you learned through reading? What connections were you able to make?
After the 5 minutes students will discuss within their groups what they wrote down. The
teacher will be walking around facilitating classroom discussions.
I do:
The teacher will transition from bellwork to the lesson and inform student to turn to a
blank page in their notebook and set up for Cornell notes.
Students will be asked to write the objective and the essential question on the top of their
notes.
The teacher will pull up Born This Way by Lady Gaga with lyrics on the smart board
and jot down key terms on the white board while the song is playing. After the song is
over the teacher will share why she/he chose those specific key term.
We do:
The teacher will pull up Born This Way by Lady Gaga with lyrics on the smart board
and have student jot down key terms on their notebooks silently while the song is
playing.
The teacher will pause the song after 30 seconds and encourage students to share with
their group the key terms they came up with.
The class will share as the teachers calls out on them.
You do:
The teacher will present five song options with different genres and have students
individually choose one.
The teacher will present and model the flip book activity to the students and address the
expectations of the project.
Students will then individually identify key terms theme in their notebooks before flip
book materials are passed out.
The teacher will moderate students as they are jotting down on their notebooks and assist
those that need help.
Closing:
To check for mastery students will write a two sentence summary on the back of their flipbook
explaining what theme they found in the song. The teacher will use this to check for eighty
percent mastery.
