Fairmount 5k Evaluation

In order to adequately evaluate the success of the Fairmount 5k in relation to the

Fairmount community a number of things will be done. When participants sign up for the event,

they will be providing personal information about themselves. All participant information will

be scanned to see what percentage of total participants are members of the Fairmount

community. In addition to finding out exactly how many community members participated, we

want to know how they felt about the event. All participants will be given a survey to fill out

about the entire days events. If the surveys are completed and returned to the Eastern State

Penitentiary within one week, the individual will receive two free passes to tour the penitentiary

at a time that best suits them. The goal is to receive completed surveys from 60% of the race

participants 18 years of age and older.

In addition to gauging the success of the event when it comes to community relations we

are interested in finding out if the event helped boost the sales for restaurants and nearby

businesses. The restaurants that choose to participate in the event will be asked to submit a post-

event evaluation detailing the percentage that their sales increased in comparison to a standard

Saturday. We will also going to restaurants and business owners and asking if they would do the

event again if it were to become an annual event. The goal is to receive positive feedback as

well as increased sales from 40% or participating businesses.
