Experiment 2

Aim

To prepare 50g of Paracetamol granules using dry and wet granulation method.

Formula

Paracetamol 100mg

Diluents 50g

Binders (starch) 5%

Procedure

1. Paracetamol powder, diluents and binders are weighed and prepared accordingly.
2. In a mortar, paracetamol powder and diluents is mix homogenously.
3. Then, in case of wet granulation, binder solution is added into the mixture little by
little and mix gently using pestle (no pressure is applied). For dry granulation, the
starch powder is added into the mixture and mixed gently.
4. After granulation is formed, the granules are sieves in order to collect the granules.
5. For wet granulation, the granules are dried in a hot air oven after sieving is done.

Results

Conclusion

1. The granules are successfully prepared using both dry and wet granulation.
