To continue with this program, our friend Diego comes to talk you a little bit more.
Now Im going to present the next issue which are the shadow of rain, my name is Karyme
Castaeda Navarro and my number list is 7.
The rain shadows more evident in the places of the range where there are no
precipitation. For this happen the air must be saturated with humidity and when its
forced to trace an obstacle (for example a mountain) it discharges some of its moisture in
the form of rain, as the air cools on the side of the mountain range or better known as
windward. When the air, already dry, descends on the leeward side (small information:
towards where the wind is directed is leeward and where the wind blow its called
windward). Well as I said, descends on the leeward side, makes it very dry and as a result
of the thermal capacity is heated by compression reaching high temperature before the
ascent. This phenomenon is also called the orographic effect. The orography plays an
important role in the quantity, intensity, spatial distribution an duration of precipitation.
There are mountainous regions in the world that receive an enormous amount of rainfall
due to the windward effect of many mountain ranges or high reliefs, places like the
population of Cherapunji in India, in northwestern Colombia, on the Canadian coast of the
pacific and in the southwestern slope of the Andes, Its very common for these thing to
happen.
