TASK HAZARDS CONTROLS

Preparation for work 1a.UV light can damage 1a1. Always turn off lamp before opening door. Lamp
1. Turn off UV lamp eyesight. should not be left on overnight.
2. Turn on blower
3. Open door 3a. Door can be heavy 3a1. Use care when lifting
4. Spray interior with 70% 4a. Inflammable liquid 4a1. Make sure ethanol has evaporated before next
ethanol step
Usage 5a. Flammable liquid 5a1. Use care not to spray onto naked flame
5. Spray all items put in 5b. Contamination of 5b1. Perform all steps in the middle of the hood and
the hood with 70% cells/media/experiments do not block the intake grill to ensure adequate air flow
ethanol and wipe 5b2. Keep the hood clear of all excess equipment and
supplies especially at the front and back of the hood
