3PT02 - Activity 2: Physical or Chemical Change?

Objective: At the end of this activity, you should be able to describe the physical & chemical changes of matter.

Materials:
ice apple naphthalene balls
paper matchsticks
Procedure:
1. Set aside the ice on a receptacle on top of the table for 15 minutes. Observe.
2. Get a piece of paper. Tear it off. Observe what happens.
3. With a matchstick, burn the paper. Observe.
Note: Be careful in handling objects with fire. Strictly follow the supervision of your teacher.
4. Wash the apple properly with clean water. Bite it. Set aside the fruit for 3 minutes. Observe.
5. Let the naphthalene ball rest on a crucible (if available) for 15 minutes. Observe.
Note: Dont touch, inhale or taste the naphthalene ball.

Analysis:
1. What happened to the ice after 15 minutes? What change takes place?
