Dear Ms. Newton,

We are a group of students at the University of Maryland conducting a research project for our
professional writing course. It would be a pleasure if we had the opportunity to see how a content
manager like yourself works in the field of social media. Throughout the process of this research, our
focus is to gain knowledge of the professional writing process within social media. We know from our
limited knowledge that content managers are multi-tasking in various projects to make social media more
understandable to the public and would love to learn more. All of us are studying different majors in
college, but we have a vested interest social media because it plays a major role in our everyday lives.
This project requires us to conduct an interview, a project proposal due October 18th, and a final
ethnographic report which is due November 20th. Along with the interview we would like to conduct
observations of your workplace to get a better understanding of how it operates. It would be convenient to
schedule two interview appointments before the 18th of October. We want you to be aware that all
subjects research information will not be disclosed outside of the premises because we are considerate
about everyones privacy in the workplace. We also want to keep you apprised of our progress and make
sure you approve of what is in our ethnography. Our hope is that the ethnography can help you better
understand and improve your workplace as well.
After these observations we will combine our research for our ethnographic report detailing the role of
social media in your workplace and others. We would like to conduct an interview at your convenience. If
