A Scope This training manual covers the training method for
Karate and Jujitsu
A.1 Karate A Japanese form of martial arts designed for defense
against an armed or unarmed attacker that employs
various striking techniques using the hand, elbows,
knees and feet
A.2 Jujitsu A Japanese form of martial arts designed to combat an
armed or unarmed attacker that employs the use of
various striking techniques, locks, throws and Takedown.
B STARTING
B.1 Starting Dojo etiquettes
Bowing and salutation
Wearing the gi or Kimono
Dojo training formation
B.2 Meditation The purpose of meditation is to train the mind to focus
on the present moment in order to absorb the
teachings. The meditation process includes:
Sitting in Seiza position
Hand/finger forms that connects the body and
mind to activate the five elements of the body
(Fire, Air, Heaven, Earth and Water)
Breathing and observing the breathing process
using specialized counting of breath
C STANCES AND Study of the different forms of stances and body
BODY MOVEMENT movements to position the body for fighting, delivering
powerful and effective strikes, evading an attack.
C.1 Stances Stances covers the following:
Maintaining the distance
Ready Stance
Straddle
Forward and Back Stance
Cat Stance
Cross Stance
C.2 Body Movements Body Movements will cover the following:
Rear and front foot glide
45, 90 and 180 Degree turn
Guard on knees (Kurai Dori) awareness
