Experimental and Investigation of Welding Of Titanium Alloy Used In

BLISK BLADES

Abstract
Titanium alloy weldment is one of the most widely used metals industrial due
to its superior physical and mechanical properties. Titanium alloy weldment can
be seen in most of the aerospace, medical and industrial products. Generally, we
can perform welding on the titanium and its alloy by many different welding
processes. During the welding process there are a lot of problems which can
occur. (HAZ), distortions or changes at the mechanical properties and
microstructures which affects the metals, leading to failure of the product and
consequently loss of effort and cost and time, and even sometimes lives of
people. This paper investigated the significance of titanium alloy , which can be
welded by using many different welding processes.

Blisk is one of the most original components in modern aero-engines. A blisk

is a single engine component consisting of a rotor disk and blades, which may
be either integrally cast, machined from a solid piece of material, or made by
welding individual blades to the rotor disk. The term is used mainly in
aerospace engine design. Here, blisk blades are treated with titanium alloy using
welding and learn the effectiveness of weldability.

Applications

Aerospace and marine, due to their high tensile strength to density ratio ,
high corrosion resistance , fatigue resistance , high crack resistance and
ability to withstand moderately high temperature without creeping
titanium alloys are used in aircraft, armor plating, naval ships, spacecraft ,
and missiles.
