UNIVERSAL CONTACT GEAR USING ALUMINIUM POWDER

AND PALM FIBER
ABSTRACT

In this paper to investigate the mushroom head shape gear the groove has
taken at the above curved surface of mushroom as model in composite and to
increase the angle of contact between the two gears.
Hybrid Composite materials have evoked a keen interest in recent times for
potential applications in aerospace and automotive industries owing to their
superior strength to weight ratio and temperature resistance. The widespread
adoption of particulate metal matrix composites for engineering applications has
been hindered by the high cost of producing components.
Achieving a uniform distribution of reinforcement within the matrix is one
such challenge, which affects directly on the properties and quality of composite
material.
To achieve these objectives two step-mixing method of stir casting
technique has been adopted and subsequent property analysis has been made.
Aluminium powder and Palm Fiber has been chosen as Hybrid composite
material.
This paper discuss the mushroom head shape gear model made by
Aluminium powder and Palm fiber composite material and to evaluate the
Hardness, Impact Strength , Micro Structure of the Composite Material.
