the tyre demand. Indian Tyre Industry is in modernization phase and is largely driven
by demand and supply conditions.
Indian tyre market is driven largely by two & three wheeler tyres (53%), followed by
passenger cars (28%) and commercial vehicle segments (16%). Tractor segment
accounted for only 3% of the tyre sales in 2015-16.
There were 39 companies (2014-15) in the domestic tyre industry as per Automotive
Tyre Manufacturers Association ATMA and the industry is valued at around Rs 535
billion as of 2015-16 with the top 10 companies accounting for 85-90% of the market
share. The export revenues stood at around Rs 100 billion during the year
Technology & Process
Blend
Up to 30 different kinds of rubber, fillers and other ingredients are used in your tyres
rubber. The ingredients are mixed in giant blenders to create a black, gummy
compound that will be sent on for milling.
Mill
The cooled rubber is cut into strips that will form the basic structure of the tyre itself. At
the milling stage, other elements of the tyre are prepared, some of which are then
coated in another type of rubber.
Build
Its now time to make the tyre from the inside out. The textile elements, steel belts,
beads, ply, tread, and other components are placed in a tyre-building machine. The
result is a green tyre a tyre that is beginning to look finished.
Cure
The green tyre is then vulcanised with hot moulds in a curing machine, compressing
all of the parts of the tyre together and giving the tyre its final shape, including its tread
pattern and manufacturers sidewall markings.
Inspect
Trained inspectors using special machinery will now carefully check each tyre for the
slightest blemish or imperfection before it can be shipped for sale.
In addition to that, a selection of tyres is pulled from the line for x-raying to check for
potential internal weaknesses or failures.

Definition: This entry provides the distribution of the population according to age.
Information is included by sex and age group (0-14 years, 15-64 years, 65 years and
over). The age structure of a population affects a nation's key socioeconomic issues.
Countries with young populations (high percentage under age 15) need to invest
more in schools, while countries with older populations (high percentage ages 65
and over) need to invest more in the health sector. The age structure can also be
used to help predict potential political issues. For example, the rapid growth of a
young adult population unable to find employment can lead to unrest.
