Sub: Retrofitment of APUs in Alco locomotives. Ref: Rly.Brd letter no.2016/M(L)/459/2 pt dated 08.12.2016 With reference to above, Railway Board allotted 40 nos. of APUs ( MLY-20 & KZJ - 20 ) for retrofitment in Alco locomotives. DLMWIPTA has released PO for these items on M/s Medha for retrofitment Accordingly, Mis Medha has started the fitment of APUs in Alco locomotives at Diesel Loco Shed /KZJ & MLY, But as an average the fitment has taken 21 to 25 days. Expediting fitment of APU is vital to achieving 10% fuel cost. Availability of eligible locos and sending them to the shed for conversion is a serious operational constraint. Its therefore, proposed to send 20 locos to MLY first for conversion irrespective of the shed to which the loco belongs amongst the 4 sheds namely KZJ.MLY.GY & CTL from the list of eligible locos.
