Dwaraka used to house Krishna, who was believed to be the eighth avatar of the god

Vishnu. Krishna killed his uncle Kansa who was a tyrant over his city. Kansas father-in-law

heard of his death and decided to get revenge. Krishna and Jarasandh (father-in-law of Kansa)

battled each other; Krishna and his clan did not lose, but realized that they would not be able to

withstand another attack and ended up leaving his city. Myth has it that Garuda led Krishna to

north-western India, specifically the coast of Saurashtra where he founded Dwarka. Once he

decided to build the city, Krishna called upon the God of Construction, Vishwakarma.

Vishwakarma told Krishna that the job could only be done by Samudradev if he provided some

land. Krishna worshipped the Lord of the Sea who in turn gave him 298.5 square miles of land.

(Dwarka: The Home of Krishna Is a Gateway to Heaven and an Underwater City.)

According to ancient Indian texts such as the Vishnu Purana, Krishnas city is over 12,000

years old. This led to the exploration and excavation of the underwater city by the Marine

Archaeology of the National Institute of Oceanography. The team pioneering the project was led by

Dr. S.R. Rao, a respected archaeologist in Bharat. (Dwarka, India 12,000 Year Old City of Lord

Krishna Found) A head line news in India called Harappan-like Ruins Discovered In Gulf of

Cambay. was reported and according to a Hindu reporter in a major marine archaeological

discovery, the Indian scientists have come up with excellent geometric objects below the sea-bed

in the western coast, similar to the Harappan ruins. ( Harappan-like Ruins Discovered In Gulf of

Cambay.) The discovery was made when NIOT (National Institute of Ocean Technology) picked up

multiple images of excellent geometrical objects (See figure 1.) During the excavation,

archaeologists discovered many layers of earlier construction hidden beneath and around the

Dwarkadhish temple (Sutherland.)

Not much is known about the excavation of Dwaraka because it was extremely

confidential. However, I do know that in the end, the excavation of the ancient city came to an

end; as to why, that is still unknown to most of the public. (The Underwater Ruins of Dwaraka)

If I were the person in charge of the excavation, first of all, I would talk with the

government about shutting down my site. That would be a long process, but well worth it; I

would talk to them about the significance that this excavation would have historically and

hopefully, convince them to let me continue my excavation. If I got the go ahead from the

government to continue, then I would take the discoveries from NIOT. I would consult experts

about the images, and what they mean; then I would get together a team of divers. The divers and

myself, would dive to the location of the underwater ruins located by NIOT; we would take

pictures, try and get some samples from the ruins as well. Once the dive is finished, we would

preserve the samples that we took and take them back to a lab to be tested. We would also upload

the photos onto a hard drive and study the images compared to drawings of Dwaraka. Once the

tests from the sample came back, we would look at the findings and form a hypothesis about it,

such as, The samples taken from what we believe to be Dwaraka conclude that what we have

found is the type of material used to build at the time and such. I would also use, the sample

collected to help determine the date of the underwater buildings. I would also most likely need to

collect more samples from different parts of the buildings in order to confirm that they are all

made of the same material and hopefully from the same time period.

Overall, the process of dating, interpreting and excavating the site would be long, but

hopefully I would be able to conclude without a shadow of a doubt that the underwater structures

we have found, are indeed Dwaraka.

Keep in mind that this is a what if scenario, the government might not even let me

continue my excavation, therefore leaving us with a mystery of whether we had discovered the

ancient mythical city of Dwaraka.
