Dear Mr. Nowlin,

I am writing in interest of a position as an English teacher for Canyon View High School. I was
informed of this position through the online database, Arizona Education Employment Board. I
recently graduated from Arizona State University in English Secondary Education. Possessing a
creative nature and an innovative attitude, my presence will fortify the enthusiasm for education
in a classroom setting. A passion for the subject and an unwavering wit, I will lead students to
challenge themselves and think critically-to truly take advantage of their education. A public
school needs teachers who will not just meet the standards and clock out, but teachers who bring
their authentic selves and sacrifice their time to genuinely and generously support their students.

A new high school needs new teachers with a fresh approach. Serving on my schools Student
Council for four consecutive years, I will have an advantage in applying my leadership skills to
classroom management. I gained experience being a student teacher for one year at Highland
High School. During this time I learned the value of establishing a rapport with my students,
making my class a community of motivated scholars rather than an obligation of exporting
information from the text to their minds. My Junior year of college I participated in a study
abroad program where ideas of implementing various teaching strategies flourished alongside
my colleagues. I work well with other teachers and respect and support their ambitions. I have a
team mindset and work well with other people.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and consider me for a position teaching English
at Canyon Valley high school. I will be an essential asset to the Canyon Valley High community.
I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Sincerely,

Kayla Nicoll
