appropriate?
Teachers Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will:
1. Make sure to place the teams in their positions then do a demonstration before
playing the game so there is no confusion during gameplay.
2. Make sure to keep an eye on the transition time so one team is not sitting off on the
side for too long.

Special Considerations What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the
students in this class?
1. Ensure that all students are safe by setting boundaries for the activity and coning
off any hazardous objects outside of the boundaries so students know to watch
out for it.
2. Ensure that students know that speedball is a non contact sport and anyone that
contacts another player on purpose will be given a penalty or sat out.

TIME SEQUENCE OF LESSON ORGANIZATION REFLECTION

0-3 min Locker Rooms: Students will go SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

get changed then come out to
the gym ready for the teachers T
instructions and line up in ABC
order for attendance.

3-4 min Transition: After attendance, the

students will move into their
warm up.

4-6 min Warm Up:

- Crows & Cranes: (Organization Attached
- Students will be put into Below)
two different teams.
Those teams will be
assigned as either a crow
or a crane.
- Those two teams will line
up with their backs to
each other at midcourt.
- Mr.G will either yell out
crows or cranes.
Which every team he
yells out, they have to
chase the other team and
tag someone before they
get to their baseline.
- Example: Crows. The
crows would turn around
and try to tag the cranes.
The cranes would not
turn around and instead
run to their baseline
without getting tagged.
- One person can only be
tagged per round by a
person.
- If a person gets tagged
by the other team, they
join that team and the
game goes on until there
is no one left on one side
or until time is up.

7-10 min Introduction:

- Focus of the day:
Speedball
- Start and Stop Signals:
Start signal will be ready
go and the Stop signal
will be 2 whistles.
- Safety: Stay inside the
boundaries during the
class period and listen to
the teachers instructions.

12-13 Transition: Mr.G will split the

min class into two teams then explain
the rules of Speedball.

RULES OF SPEEDBALL:
- Two teams play each
other at a time. The
teams will be split evenly
and if there is more than
two teams made, the
other team will stay on
the side to wait their turn.
- The game will start with a
tip off. Two players from
opposing teams will line
up at half court and get
ready to jump and tip the
ball back to their
teammates.
- When the ball is caught
and in someones hands,
basic handball rules will
be in place; When you
have the ball you cannot
move, you must make
three passes before
attempting to score in any
way.
- One rule that changes is
once the ball hits the
ground, the game turns
into soccer and students
may only use their feet.
The three passes rule still
applies no matter if you
are passing with your feet
or passing with your
hands.
- The way to change the
game back to using your
hands instead of your
feet is if a teammate lifts
the ball up and another
teammate catches the
ball or if someone simply
kicks the ball up with their
feet to their hands.

- Different ways to score:

- If you toss the ball to
another teammate that
stands in the endzone
from anywhere on the
court= 1 point.
- If a person kicks the ball
into the goal= 2 points.
- If a person shoots the ball
into the container from
behind the shooting line=
3 points.
- The game is played on
the boundaries of a
basketball court. The end
zone will be behind the
gray line and within the
sidelines of the basketball
court.
- If a team hits the ball out
of bounds, the ball is
given to the other team
and the team starts with
the ball in their hands.

Speedball Gameplay: (Organization attached

- Rules attached above. below)
- Teams will switch out
after a certain amount of
points or after a certain
time limit.
- Mr.G will be the referee
of the game and make
any calls that need to be
10-32 made.
min
Extension Up: Make the shooting
line also the throwing line and
the kicking line to make the
throws and kicks need to more
accurate.

Extension Down: Take away one

of the scoring options to make
the gameplay more simplified.

32-33 Transition:
min Have the students bring in the
equipment to the bag and have
them stay for a quick closure.
S S S S S S S S S S S
33-38 Closure: S S
min - What were some S S
defensive strategies used T
during gameplay? (Space
out the players on your
team, Give & Go, etc.)

min students and have them go into
their locker and change for class.
