WINERY EVACUATION PROCEDURES

SAMPLE
In the event of an emergency threatening the safety of employees and guests at the
winery, a building evacuation may be necessary. All wineries should plan and discuss
the following evacuation procedures:

Roles of Employees:

Anyone that observes an emergency condition or situation should call 911. (Remember
prefix number, 9) If you use your cellular phone to dial 911 please remember to
dial_______, so that the call goes directly to the local emergency responders.

All regular staff will direct any temporary employees, contractors, truck drivers, tour
groups, or other visitors to the proper exits and routes to the meeting places.

A designated winery or VC employee will take the following steps and items:

Call the VC to inform them of the evacuation (or drill)

Take the sign-in book so those visitors can be accounted for
Take the portable red trauma bag and the AED, near the ______ door
Make the call to 911 if necessary

Emergency Squad Members with radios will be stationed at the to make sure that no
new arrivals enter the property, except for emergency personnel. A trained
maintenance person will be stationed at the fire pump.

General Evacuation Procedures:

1. When the alarm sounds with a continuing wailing noise, employees should take the
proper evacuation routes, which are the shortest routes to the outside of your
building.

2. Enact safety procedures unique to each area (shutting down machinery, etc.)

3. Plan ahead for two escape routes, since one exit might be blocked by fire, or other
obstructions. Proceed around the perimeters of the main building complex to the
designated meeting place (primary or secondarysee # 5)

4. Maintenance will do a sweep of the internal buildings assuring all personnel have
safely evacuated. They will confirm all perimeter doors are closed and locked,
precluding unauthorized and unsafe entry by others.

5. Meeting places
Primary: the employee parking lot (or other designated area) for all winery
personnel, Secondary: the Tasting Room parking lot (or other designated area).
Tasting Room personnel inside the winery during an evacuation will exit immediately
to the primary evacuation area; report in at the primary meeting place and then
return to the Tasting Rooms. In the event of a Tasting Rooms only evacuation, TR
personnel and visitors will use the Tasting Room parking lot.

6. At the meeting place, report to your supervisor in the pre-designated area for your
group (i.e. Bottling, Cellar, Maintenance, Front Office, or Tasting Rooms). Designate
an area where you will locate a clipboard for each department, with employees
names. Check off each employee on the department list, noting if they are present,
or off-site. Write in the names of any visitors, temporary associates, or new
employees that are not on the list. Your supervisor will let you know if you are
excused to leave the premises.

Emergency Drills are performed twice yearly. A designated person will time the
evacuation and email each department head to see how they feel the drill went.
