ENGL-2116 has taught me much about business formatting and writing. The assignments

shown in this portfolio prove how much my skill in writing and researched has increased. The

class has taught me how to write in business memo format, block letter format, and plenty more.

This helps throughout the many different business settings I may or may not encounter in my

lifetime. The textbook assignments have, in my opinion, increased my critical thinking skills

tenfold because of the way I must evaluate issues to form judgements.

I believe this class has taught me the most about rhetorical knowledge and critical

reflection. In many, if not all of the assignments, I have had to identify and apply strategies

across many different texts and writing situations. The most useful skill rhetorical knowledge has

taught me is how to shift voice, tone, formality, and layout intentionally to accommodate the

situations I am proposed. The best example of this is the complaint letter and adjustment letter.

The individual assignments, group projects, and the textbook assignments all taught me

something about critical reflection. Critical reflection is a writers ability to articulate what they

are thinking and why. Each of the assignments had this incorporated into its design and I am

thankfully aware of this new skill I have developed over the semester.
Sincerely,

Kaleb Hill
