A robot is a machine programmed by a computer but it is not just any machine. The term
comes from a Czech word, robota, meaning "forced labor" It is a special kind of machine which
can move. It follows instructions and the instructions come from a computer. It is a machine, so
it does not make mistakes.
In 1948, William Grey Walter invented robots Elmer and Elsie using very simple
electronics. They were tortoise-like robots. In 1954 George Devol invented the first digital robot
called the Unimate. Later, in 1956, Devol and his partner Joseph Engelberger formed the world's
first robot company.
A robot does not get tired and never complains. Today, robots are all around us and they are
used to make things. Robots are used for jobs which are too dirty, dangerous or dull for
humans. For example, robots can help make cars and some are used to explore dangerous places
like volcanoes. Some robots can clean things and even help vacuum your house. They can also
be used to help answer telephone calls.
In the future, we will have even more robots. They will do things that we cant do or that we
dont want to do. Robots are very useful to humans.

A Memorable Camping
The air conditioner was running but Aida opened the car window anyway. Cold air rushed
out, anda hot breeze hit her in the face. She sighed happily. Her family and Iliyanis family were
going to spend the weekend at Lake Kenyir.
The two families parked their cars at the resort. Aidas father gave them their small tent.
They would it pitch in the camping area near the edge of the jungle. The girls chose to camp out
and enjoy the nature while their parents slept at the resort.
Soon, the tent stood straight and neat. The girls could hardly wait for bed-time. After an
early dinner with their parents at the resort, they hurried out to their tent . Sitting outside the
tent, they sprayed themselves with mosquito repellent to watch the sun sinking in the sky.
There was a clear path leading up the hill, so the girls quickly climbed the hill. Aida and
Ilyani laughed happily when they saw the view. They pulled out their cameras and took lots of
photos of each other and the scenery. Of all the pictures Aida really liked the pictures of an
amazing big bright flower.
When it was getting dark, they walked down the hill to go back to their tent. There was so
much to see, and they were both having so much fun. They really enjoyed the nature and
promised to come back to this place.
