The Pavegen tiles are designed to withstand harsh outdoor locations with

high footfall. The slabs are waterproof to allow them to operate efficiently
in both internal and external environments.

The Pavegen unit was tested underwater in order to investigate its

resistance to water. The unit was submerged to a depth of one meter in a
swimming pool. The unit was fully functional when immersed in the water
and was still generating electricity.

The plates are flexible, waterproof, weighs 28 kg and has an output of 12

volts direct current. It has a light in the middle of the plate, which shows
that energy was captured. The recycled rubber is predominant at the top.
Since the base plate is formed with more than 80% recycled material.

We are currently testing the durability of the units by using a test rig to
ascertain the number of footsteps each unit can withstand. As of August
2013 the units have been tested to withstand over 3 million footsteps.

The durability of Pavegen electrical devices is approximately 5 years or

until a total of 20 million steps.
