I think this writing assignment required me to closely analyze a primary source that I

thought that I knew what the assignment required me to do. By the end of the paper, I figured out
what the exigence of why I was writing the assignment and why my professor assigned it. It was
not as difficult as I thought it would be because I applied concepts that we have learned and
practiced throughout the year. I have never looked at an assignment and a rubric that close
before. I mainly skim through the assignment for the main details and how to get all of the points
necessary for a good grade. By doing analyzing this assignment, I found some sort of respect for
my professor because I realized that he was trying to help us (his students) to analyze a research
article and to be able to summarize and form an opinion about it. All assignments have a
purpose, but most of the time, students do not focus on their purpose, just the grade. I will try
from now on to look at why the assignment is being given and the professors exigence.
Determining if writing is good depends on the audience(s) and the exigence(s). Writing
can have more than one audience and more than one exigence. Some audiences share an
exigence. Some audiences do not. The audience decides if the writing is good. If the writing is
good, then it completes the audiences exigence. If the writing is bad, then it does not complete
the audiences exigence.
