About Me

As a writer, I am not skilled at English grammar because I did not know how to speak or

write until the age of 3 years old due to my deafness. Although, I was educated in spoken English

alongside my hearing peers; I was still behind among my hearing peers. I decided to learn

American Sign Language from my twin brother and his friends. I gained a lot of confidence and

motivation in school. I currently have American Sign Language interpreters in my classes to

have an access to receive full informations from my professors. Still, the linguistic modality in

which I am most fluent in written English because I have the ability to speak and hear with my

cochlear implant.

As a first year undergraduate student at California State University of Northridge, I have

written a lot of essays, reflection and research papers. The first essay that I selected for my final

portfolio for English 113A is about tipping and how gratitude should not be mandatory. The

second essay that I picked for my final portfolio is a creative writing about my job experience as

a deaf person. I strongly believe that I have been improving my writing skills since the beginning

of the semester and I look forward to continue improving my writing for next semester as I will

take English 113B.
