This website is a portfolio of writing assignments I have completed in ENC1101.

In this class we

focused on topics such as Discourses, and rhetorical situation. A lot of the work in the class was focused

around writing and learning about writing, both tips to allow us to write more efficiently and to go more

in depth into the writing process. We read several articles by people such as Brandt and Gee prior to

writing any essay which familiarized us with topics that are common in the Discourse that wed have to

use in the essays. ENC1101 is an academic community, and these papers in this portfolio will show the

progression of knowledge that we got out of the class. The papers are in the order as follows.

We began with writing an autoethnography. The paper was to be written about a community

we are a part of and it had to incorporate ideas we recently learned in the class. These ideas include

topics such as literacy sponsors, Discourses, and the rhetorical situation. For this I wrote about my family

as a community and how it relates to Discourses.

The second paper was about the writing process. We had to analyze and write about what steps

we take when it comes to writing including preparation, writing, revising, and editing. In this we looked

to see what was working and what we could change to make writing more efficient.

Paper three was about Rhetorical Ecology. This was related to a group project while included a

presentation on the topic. For this assignment we chose NASA and found how rhetorical ecology was

present on the website and in their articles.

The final writing assignment for ENC 1101 had us pick another class and find writing studies

concepts in the assignment. The other class also had to be a non-writing studies class and it was to show

how even if the class isnt designed around writing studies the ideas and concepts are there. For this I

had used an assignment from my stem seminar class.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew Wilson
