Self-Reflection

Throughout this semester I have become more confident in my writing than I was throughout

high school. In the past, writing was always the hardest subject in school for me. I struggled with the

organization and the flow of my essays. This year, through the assignments and techniques I completed

and learned, my experience and ability as a writer grew. I have already noticed the difference in my

writing for this class, and for other classes I have taken this semester. I can easily create an outline for

research papers I have in different subjects, and I am thankful for this new skill. At the beginning of this

semester I was nervous because of the amount of homework I received in this class. I now see that it

was important for me to be able to meet strict deadlines and be able to write what I believed to be large

amounts in a short period of time. It helped me adjust to what college expects of me. I was also able to

figure out a way to manage my time and became good at avoiding procrastination. I believe that now,

my biggest strength as a writer is being able to write in an organized and interesting way and through

the numerous outlines I prepared this year, it has continued to drastically improve. Overall, I am glad

that freshman have to take this class as a requirement, because I do not think I would have if it was not

required. There are still many skills in my writing that have room for improvement, like my grammar,

vocabulary, and awkward sentences, but I know it will continue to improve throughout college.
