The fourth essay about Genre analysis was not a very difficult essay.

It was asking us to

look at what a teacher in another class is asking us to do and relate that to writing studies

concepts weve discussed in class. For my assignment specifically I took an essay from my ISC

2054 stem seminar class and outlined the required concepts that I could find from there. The

outline we did in class also helped me to do this, where we had talked about possible exigences,

audiences, etc. There was also the slide on the class power point that had a good number of the

rhetorical strategies. So we had all the recourses we needed, and a solid outline for writing the

essay.

This helps with learning to write in other classes because by picking apart my seminar

assignment for the exigence and audience it helps you see while your writing if your staying on

topic and keeping track of what the purpose of the writing and keeping it focused on the

teachers intended audience will help writing be better in other classes. Theres also the lexis and

rhetorical strategies that help you write as if youre in the community which will make the essay

better if you can write as if your one of them (them being whatever group or class your writing

for), even if you arent.

What decides if writing is good or not depends on if it accomplishes what it was made to

accomplish. If it can reach its intended audience and get its message across in a convincing,

informative, or whatever other way then it has accomplished its goal.
