Social Studies Past-Present and Future

Objectives
For the first graders is not easy to understand the concept of past, present and
future. In this lesson teacher will introduce the topic and student will be able to
distinguished between past, present and future.
TEXS/LPS; 1.3A,1.3C,1.3B,1.17(A),1.17(B)1.18(A)
Materials; book, paper, pencils, crayons
Media; slide show: timeline of a person in past (child), present(student) and
future(doctor)

Students are going to sit in the front of a class in a row. Teacher will start with a
question: What do you want to be when you grow up. Together they will create a
words to know and add it to word wall.
Teacher will discuss the meaning of past, present and future and ask student for
examples
Next teacher will read a short story and show a power point of persons timeline
with past, present and future.

Teacher will create her own timeline and show students step by step with pictures
and sentences describing each picture.

Students will then go back to their seats and created their own timeline with
past(baby),present(1grade student) and future (what they wont to be).

Teacher will walk around to make sure students are on task and provide help if
needed.

At the end of the class teacher will pick up timelines to evaluate students
performance .
