ENGW3307 Project 2 Reflection
Semester after semester, students email, visit, and even snail-mail thank yous for the work done in
ENGW3307; many after graduating. Nearly every one mentions the literature review. My
question for you: Why? What tasks do you see in this assignment that make it a memorable and
(according to your peers) valuable learning experience? What skills did you exercise that you think
may be transferable to other situations? For example, why do CEOs and hiring managers say they
want people who can read *across* a set of reports/studies/papers and detect patterns?
ln. a well-organized reflection; explore why you think so-many consider this assignment an
asset, even if they don’t stay in academia. What do you see in this assignment, in the process of
writing it, not just the final product? You have a lot of evidence to consider: your experience, your
process and work, your classmates’ work, myths about AWD, or other writing in your field . . .
‘You might also think about this assignment worked with your writing process. How-did (or
could) your writing process change to-better fit this assignment? How has your research process

changed? Looking forward, what would you do differently the next time you write this type of
document? (Note: not this exact document, but a similar review of material.) Given-time,
‘resources, and-sleep, what would you chanige about your current literature review?
‘As always, please be very specific — mention particular paragraphs or passages in your paper,
searches that you did, prewriting pieces, peer reviews, or any other pertinent material

meaningful stiggestions for Project 2. For each suggestion, quickly but specifically (10 or fewer
words) write what you did in response. For example, if you ignored a suggestion, you could write,
“Too much work: ignored” or "Puzzling; ignored” or if you followed a suggestion, you could
write, “Tried to follow, moved 3 paragraphs, added sentence to intro.” As usual, be specific and
be candid — it will help you (itis a reflection, after all), me, and future students.
