Literacy Narrative Cover Letter

In my Literacy Narrative paper I was able to meet a few of the goals this course requires.
The primary goal I met was that I was able to use my reading and writing in order to help me
compose this essay. Since the Rhetorical Analysis essay was focused more around how my
writing and reading experiences have shaped me it was easier for me to gather my ideas and
explore my own identity as a writer. Another of this courses goal is to have students explore
their own identity in relation to the politics of language. That means that student writers must be
able to recognize how their writing connects with the requirements of different writing
communities. Writing this essay helped me achieve this goal because it allowed me to search
within myself and transition my way of writing in order to fit the format. I also felt that this essay
helped me improve my ability to compose an effective piece that my reader will be able to
engage in without confusion.
As a writer, I learned that I am capable of gathering up my ideas and delivering them in a
detailed informative way. I have always struggled with what to input in my papers, however the
process of composing this essay allowed me to shift my way of writing in order to follow the
format of the essay. I also learned that even when I think my piece already meets the
requirements of the format I always have something missing. This is frustrating to me but it has
also helped me in becoming patient with my writing and deliver the perfect piece to my reader.
I believe that what went well for me in this essay was that I was able to deliver my
experiences as a reader and writer quite well to my reader. On the other hand, what I struggled
with was being able to use resources in order to make a connection with my experiences and the
articles written by scholars.
If I had to do this essay all over again I think I would try to better organize my ideas so
that the essay can have a smooth transition. This will help my reader become engaged and
understand the idea I am trying to get across.
I believe that my final draft is ready for my ePortolio. The changes I made to my final
draft were considerate of my audience and they helped me organize my ideas like I initially
intended. I was able to make these changes thanks to the feedback I received from my peers and
professor.
This essay alone has already helped me improve as a writer. As for my future
assignments, the writing process of this essay has affected me positively. I have already caught
myself using the process I used for this assignment for other courses. One of the main elements I
learned from this essay is to become a writer with authority. I have incorporated this element into
future assignments and that has helped my readers to stay engaged in my writing piece.
