He was fascinated by science since he was a little kid.

He studied physics at Oxford and did so with


little effort.

When he was in his twenties he was diagnosed with ALS a disease that makes the affected person
lose control of their muscles. He was also told that he had only two or three years to live. As he got
worse he became more and more depressed, but he didn't give up.

Instead

, he got married and had three children. He also continued his work in physics and wrote a few books
even though he lost control of most muscles in his body.

Today Stephen Hawking is a world-famous theoretical physicist. He works at Cambridge University. He


can no longer speak or move but that hasnt stopped him from traveling the world and giving
lectures. He has shown me that no matter what happens you can achieve your goals if you work hard
enough.
