Reflection

Think about the advantages and disadvantages of using the model of pre-, while-
and post-listening activities to teach a listening lesson. Write first from the
perspective of the teacher and then from the perspective of the learners.

Listening is an important skill in learning and teaching English. It is the basic way to improve
the language effectively and it's adding many vocabs to our brains. It has three stages which
are pre-listening, while and post. First from the perspective of the teacher, in pre stage she
motivates the students by choosing activities that grasp student's attention. In while stage
she focus on identifying specific vocabulary, expressions, and problem phrases. Second the
disadvantage she needs to maintain conversations in the three stages. Also she needs to
prepare the students. She needs to choose activity that cannot be problems when one
student is a lot weaker than the other. From the perspective of the student using the
the pre stage enhances student's listening model have many advantages. First
comprehension and activates the students schema on the topic or vocabulary. While stage
involves more interaction and collaboration among the students and that help the students
in developing their communication skills. The post stage helps the student to be
independent and to apply their new information to the activities. Second the disadvantage,
while engaging in previewing vocabulary, students tended to listen for the words given for
the preview while listening, consequently paying less attention to the gist. Moreover,
selection of words for preview also sometimes failed to provide help, due to the difficulty
level and the number of words given that may exceed their short-term memory span.
