Welcome!

Hello!
I am Ms. Lewis and I am thrilled and honored to have your child in my classroom! This
is my first year of teaching preschool and I couldnt be more excited. I have spent many
months of hard work preparing for this classroom, getting it suitable for your child to
develop and thrive. We will learn, play, and grow together as a classroom.

The Classroom!
I believe that play is an essential part to a childs learning. Play is the work of the child.
Maria Montessori. Through play, children are developing social skills, problem-solving
skills, and learning how to make friends and keep them. I will have a weekly show and
tell that will allow your child to bring something they are proud of or enjoy and show it to
the class, which will enhance language development and listening skills. I will focus on
children being able to explore the classroom and have very few things they cannot
touch. Your child will also partake in some project approaches that will last several
weeks, maybe months. This allows the whole class to explore a topic they would like to
know more about such as nature, horses, bugs, etc. I cant wait to sit down with you and
go more in depth of what will be happening in the classroom!

Family involvement is also an important part of your childs learning. If they see that you
are a part of the classroom as well, they will feel more comfortable and more apt to want
to be there. To encourage family involvement, I will send out weekly newsletters with
information of our adventures in the classroom, future events, and sending home daily
reports. I will also make routine home visits and host family parties in the classroom. If
