What is a Freewrite?

Notes:

One requirement: dont stop writing! (10 minutes)

Go quickly without rushing.

Never stop to look back and cross out.

Dont worry about spelling or word choice.

Dont worry about thought choice.

Cant think of a word? Use a squiggle.

You can write I cant think of what to say as many times as you want.

Repeat the last word you wrote over and over; just dont stop writing!

-Freewriting works because it gets rid of the editing. We edit so much that we edit out our own

thoughts and feelings. With freewriting, we dont have to get it right the first time. Write like

you speak, or rob yourself of the ability to figure out what to say. Write past the criticism of past

teachers. The more you write past the criticism the faster you will discover your voice.

Dont think in order to write; write in order to think.

No one has to read it! Write whatever comes to mind.
