To: Whom it may concern

TM Coordinator for Mathematics
El Paso Community College
RE: Jessica Luna
Jessica Luna is nearing the end of her bachelors degree and plans to teach mathematics in
high school to deaf students.
I have not had the pleasure of having Ms. Luna in any of my classes, but she has tutored in the
Math Emporium at the Transmountain Campus of El Paso Community College from March 2013
to August 2015. In that capacity she would tutor/help students who were working on Basic
Math, Beginning Algebra and Intermediate Algebra in a computer/self-paced environment. She
was quite capable of answering all their questions which meant she had questions from all of
the three courses, and the questions would come in any order.
At the time of her employment Ms. Luna reported to Ms. Diana Orrientia, who is no longer with
the college, and I was the math coordinator at Transmountain campus. I did keep an eye on the
Math Emporium and can say Ms. Luna came to work on time, and while working she was
always tutoring students sometimes staying after her tutoring hours were over (so she did not
get paid for that extra time).
She has continued her education since leaving EPCC, and the addition of sign language so that
she can teach the deaf will be very helpful to any school that hires her.
