KWL Charts A KWL Chart is a way
of enhancing literacy with text. The
components of a KWL Chart are
What You Know, What You Want to
Know and What You Learned. KWL
Charts can go with individual text
readings as well as the topic as a
whole.
Geography Assignments- In part of
understanding a conflict and its
nuisances its important to
understand the location of the
participants. Students will be asked
to label the active participants and
factions of the war.
Formative
Flash Cards: Leaders and
Ideologies This would be
flashcards with the various leaders
and associated ideologies of the
conflicts to help the students to
remember all the different figures.
Timelines- Just like the flashcards,
this is a way to help organize
information for students.
Quiz- The Interwar Years This
quiz focuses on how the events of
the first World War lead into the
second.
Group Presentations WWII
Students will be placed into groups
and asked to present on the history
of a specific country during the war.
They will be prompted to include
specific information that the rest of
the class will be listening to answer
on a worksheet during the
presentation.
Summative
Narrative Essay- Students will be
asked to write a narrative essay on
either WWI or WWII focusing on
the important events and the
causes and effects of these events.
War Atrocities Poster: Students will
be asked to create a poster on any
of the darker aspects of the two
world wars (Gas Attacks, Ethnic
Cleansing, etc.). They goal is for
students to create a poster to
highlight the key aspects of the
event as if they are raising
awareness.
