Tomorrows Leaders
Networking Event
We would like to invite everyone who has
graduated from Tomorrows Leaders to come
along to this Networking Event in York on:
Wednesday 17th January
From 3 pm to 6 pm
You will be able to:
- Meet all the other graduates from Yorkshire &
Humber and North East
- Find out what everyone has been up to since
they graduated
- Let us know what you think we should plan
together so we can all develop our leadership
skills more
We can pay for your travel costs and support if
needed. You can fill in a form to claim the
expenses but you will need to keep any tickets or
receipts.

Me, Being Active films
The ENGLISH Federation of Disability Sport
(EFDS) has released a new collection of Me,
Being Active films ahead of International Day for
Disabled People.
Anoushe, Evie, Richard, Sam Shona, Tesfai and
Zack are seven disabled people with a range of
disabilities and long term health conditions, who all
lead active lives.
In the films, they talk about how they first became
active and explain the way it makes them feel.

Yorkshire and Humber Events
People in Action
People in Action are running 3 children and young
peoples group for people with a learning disability.
It is free to attend.
Play, Fun, Learn is a group for children 8 12 years
of age
At the groups, children can take part in all sorts of
fun activities like
Sports
Drama
Dancing
Baking
Arts activities
Parents and carers are welcome to stay or take part
From 10 am until 2 pm
On Saturdays in Otley, Leeds
On Sundays in East End Park, Leeds
It is a Social group of young people called Saturday
T.E.A.M for 13 18 years of age
Group members will
Make friends
Have fun
Try something new
Be active
Learn life skills
Get healthy
They can get involved in activities like
Sports
Creative Arts
Performing Arts
Trips out

Explore and Create
Pyramid groups look at on producing big pictures
and performance for public exhibition.
Explore and Create with Pyramid of Arts is a free
creative activity for people with a learning disability
aged 50 and over.
This is a 12 weeks course starting from
23rd January 2018, Tuesday

Storytelling Event
CHANGE is a human rights organisation led by
people with a learning disability
CHANGE is having a storyline event about decision
making.
Storytelling is an important way of finding out
about peoples lives
Decision making is important, and it affects our
life
Sometimes we make decisions for ourselves
Sometimes other people might make
decisions for us
This event will take place in Leeds
On Wednesday, 31st January 2017
From 10:30 am until 4:00 pm
Refreshments and Lunch will be provided
They want to hear your stories. Nobody has to tell
a story if they dont want to.
They will make a film about the day, if you dont
want to be filmed just tell them. Nobody will ask
why.
The film will tell a story about people with a learning
disability and their experiences of decision making.
It will be shared on the internet.

in County Durham in the New Year
It has 2 aims
To signpost to the information contained in the

Friendship Action North East
Friendship Action North East have a new group
called To Make Friends.
This group is for people with a learning disability
autism or both.
They are looking for new members aged 18 or
over for their one to one friendship mentoring
project in 2018.
The project is for people who would like to develop
new and existing friendships, learn friendship skills
and be more active in their own community by
becoming a Friendship Finder.
