Counting the Cuts Report

Safe Places Launch


Better Days is launching its Safe Places Scheme. This is to help people with learning disabilities feel safe when out and about in Newcastle. The launch is on 13th March from 11am-1pm at the Culture Lab in Newcastle. There will be drama performances, films and a buffet lunch. Northern Powergrid: online registration for Priority Services Register (PSR)


Northern Powergrid has launched a better online registration process for its customers who feel they are vulnerable and would benefit from additional support during a power cut. Action Against Cruelty


Lemos and Crane have launched a new website to combat cruelty, harassment and abuse against people with learning disabilities. The site includes research and guidance on supporting adults with learning disabilities to lead safe and independent lives. Confidential Inquiry Film


The team who ran the Confidential Inquiry into Premature Deaths of People with Learning Disabilities has worked with The Misfits Theatre Company to make a DVD. The DVD shows the findings of the Confidential Inquiry through the stories of John, Bill, Karen and Emily. People with type 2 diabetes and learning disabilities We need your help!
The OK:Diabetes research team at the University of Leeds is trying to create information and action plans that will help people with learning disabilities manage their diabetes better. They want to talk to people who have type 2 diabetes and a learning disability. They want to find out what theyd like help with and to learn what they do well. They can only talk to people who are not on insulin and live in the Leeds, Bradford or Wakefield areas.
