A novel written by a Filipino writer and a national hero Jose Rizal illustrates Filipino

nationalism. Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not) had a big role in our country it shows the bad
qualities and doing of the Spanish government and a love story of Maria Clara whos warm,
loving and committed to her partner Crisostomo Ibarra who was the hero of the novel. This
may not be the weapon used during the revolution, but it certainly played a huge role in stirring
the emotions and rage that the Filipinos had against the Spanish rule. Noli is not only attacking
the Spanish colonial rule, but also the character of how Filipinos were powerless and poor in
their own country.
If I will be one of the characters in Noli Me Tangere I would create a new one and would
be a sister of Crisostomo Ibarra. Because Crisostomo needs a family to love and care for him. As
his sister, I will be there in his side always and help him to fight for our country.
To make that goal possible, I will be a spy for him in every informations and movements
of the Spaniards. I will also help him to be with Maria Clara and to be with her forever so that
Ibarra will be happy in his love life and be inspired by her. Then, I will help him to tell all my
fellow country-men to fight our rights, to recover their self-confidence and recognize the value
of their own worth. For this is our own country and our own life. Lastly, we Filipinos will be
united as one and have a power to be brave and strong to fight against the Spaniards. But as
Rizal did, we will do a silent type of war not a war that can loss lives, but a war that can make
the Spaniards open their eyes. I know that this kind of war will be impossible but it will be a
successful if we work together as one. Even Rizal worked by himself to fight for our country and
became our National hero now. So why dont we?

The message we can get from it is learn how to fight in a peaceful manner, fighting
doesnt need a bolos, gun and bomb but it can also be possible using your pen and wisdom. As
Filipino we should learn to fight rationally, to be educated and unite in doing good deeds.
