To Whom It May Concern:

Karen Olivas has been a scholar in our MaST (Math and Science Teachers) Academy for
one semester. Karen is one of the most organized, hardworking, conscientious, and
dedicated scholars I have had the privilege of supervising. She has shown great potential
to becoming an outstanding teacher.

Every month we have workshops to help prepare the scholars for teaching, and Karen has
been an integral part of those workshops. She is a very intellectual and pensive young
lady. No matter what job or activity Karen is asked to perform, she does it with great
eagerness. She is willing to learn all she can to better prepare herself for teaching.

Karen also has a very service oriented heart. She volunteers for any job related to science
and helping people. Some of her volunteer work has been for the Academic Year
Pathways Research Experience Program, at Dr. Marc Cox Research Laboratory, at
various events through the University Honors Council, and she is a UTEP The CUE
volunteer.

We are so blessed to have Karen as one of our scholars. I highly recommend Karen
Olivas for any position!

Sincerely,

Debra Driscoll
