Discourse Community Report Reflection

The discourse community report taught us, the students, on how to write with restrictions and
keep the focus on the exigence of the assignment. I felt that I was not completely there yet when
it came to staying within the exigence and restrictions of the assignment. I learned how to write
with a style called Turabian and how to work with restrictions, which can help when a professor
or worker wants a paper that has restrictions on it. The process obstructed my writing, because
the Turabian style was hard to understand and learn. It can help me reflect and think about a
different way I went when it came to writing the paper and actually focusing on what the
assignment wants. The revision process helped me understand the exigence of the paper and
learn the Turabian style a bit better. And lastly, the swales reading helped me understand the
basis of exigence that the assignment wanted.
